Meta Launches Muse Spark 1.3 With Big Coding Upgrades

Meta has released Muse Spark 1.3 which is a new AI model built by Meta Superintelligence Labs. The company says it is the biggest improvement yet in coding and task automation, and it comes at a much lower price than rival models.

The new model is available now through Muse Code, Meta's coding tool for computers, and through Meta's developer API. A more advanced version called max mode is still being tested for safety and is only available to a small group of partners for now.

Meta says the model uses fewer steps and fewer words to finish tasks compared to the older version. It is also better at handling large amounts of information at once and pauses to ask questions before doing anything that cannot be undone.

According to Artificial Analysis, an independent testing group, Muse Spark 1.3 performs close to other top AI models but costs far less to run, especially for coding tasks. Their tests also showed a small drop in some long reading tasks, where the model chooses not to answer more often than before.

Pricing stays the same as the last version. Regular use costs $1.25 for every million words read and $4.25 for every million words the model writes. A cheaper option lets Meta use the data to improve its own products while costing much less.

Meta also says two bigger releases are coming next with an open version of Spark that anyone can download and a much larger model still in development.
