ElevenLabs Launches CLI v1 to Bring Voice Agents Into the Terminal

ElevenLabs has launched a new tool called ElevenLabs CLI v1, giving developers a way to control the company's voice and audio tools directly from their computer's terminal.

The update brings the full ElevenLabs platform into one command line tool, built for both human coders and AI coding agents.

With the new CLI, developers can manage voice agents as code. This means agent settings can be pulled into local files, edited, tested with a dry run, and then pushed live, similar to how software teams manage code changes.

The tool also tells the difference between a human user and an AI agent running a command. Humans get simple, readable messages, while agents receive clean, structured data they can process easily.

Another key feature is the built-in skills generator. Running a single command adds ready-made instructions to a project, helping coding agents build and ship features using plain language descriptions instead of complex setup steps.

The CLI works alongside ElevenLabs' MCP tool, which allows people to manage voice agents through simple chat commands inside apps like Claude. Together, the two tools offer both simple conversational control and detailed, script-based control for teams managing many agents at once.

The tool can be installed using Homebrew, Scoop, or a direct install script, and the source code is available on GitHub.
