Obsidian 1.13 Brings New Share Sheet and Redesigned Settings

Note-taking app Obsidian has rolled out version 1.13 to all users on desktop and mobile. The update focuses on small fixes and quality-of-life changes rather than one big new feature, but together they make the app noticeably smoother to use.

The biggest change for mobile users is a new share sheet on iOS that lets people save content from other apps like Safari, YouTube, and X without even opening Obsidian. Users can pick which vault, folder, and template the saved content goes into, and the app turns pages, videos, and transcripts into clean Markdown notes automatically.

On the desktop side, the settings panel has been redesigned. It now opens in its own window, supports full search by name, and can be navigated entirely with the keyboard. Users can also exit restricted mode without needing to turn plugins back on, which helps when troubleshooting.

Working with images is also easier in this update. People can now drag to resize images directly in their notes, click to open a fullscreen zoom view, and pan or navigate between images without leaving the note. Keyboard shortcuts have been added too, letting users grow, shrink, or reset image size with simple key presses.

Other smaller improvements include drag and drop tab reordering on mobile, better scrolling on large files, and added security prompts for links and files coming from outside sources.

The update can be installed by opening Obsidian and checking for updates, or by downloading the latest version from obsidian.md.
