Runway Launches Multi-Shot to Generate Complete AI Video Scenes

Runway has released a new tool called Multi-Shot, which can turn a single text prompt into a fully edited short video clip complete with dialogue, sound effects, and multiple camera cuts.

The tool is available now inside the Runway web app under the Apps section. Users simply type a description of a scene, and the app handles everything else, including how the story is broken into shots, when cuts happen, what characters say, and what sounds play in the background. Videos are generated at 1080p resolution, run about 15 seconds long, and include synced spoken dialogue by default.

Multi-Shot works in two ways. In Auto mode, users write one overall description and let the AI decide how to structure the scene. In Custom mode, users can define each individual shot themselves for more control. An optional starting image can also be uploaded to help keep characters or settings consistent across the clip.

The tool is built on Runway's latest generation of AI models, which are designed to maintain character consistency and visual coherence from one shot to the next.

Before tools like this, creating a short scene with multiple cuts and dialogue typically required generating clips separately and then editing them together by hand. Multi-Shot compresses that entire process into one step.

This launch follows a growing pattern in AI creative tools. OpenArt recently released Worlds, a feature that lets users explore a full 3D environment from a single prompt and capture consistent shots from any angle. As we covered earlier, it was the first tool of its kind in consumer AI. Together, these releases show that AI video tools are quickly moving beyond simple clip generation toward giving creators real production-level control.

The Multi-Shot app is accessible to all logged-in Runway users and runs on standard Runway credits.
